Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private research university located in Worcester, Massachusetts, founded in 1865. It is especially known for its strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), but also offers programs in business, social sciences, and the humanities. One of WPI’s signature educational approaches is the “WPI Plan”, a project-based learning curriculum that integrates theoretical coursework with real-world projects. Through this plan, students engage in Interactive Qualifying Projects (IQP) and Major Qualifying Projects (MQP), often working in global project centers around the world.
On campus, students benefit from a tight-knit, collaborative community, relatively low student-to-faculty ratios, and a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Life at WPI also includes a range of student organizations, from technical clubs to arts and cultural groups, as well as strong support for global engagement.
