Founding & Philosophy
Sabancı University was founded in 1994 by the Sabancı Foundation and welcomed its first students in 1999.  From its inception, the university was built with a vision of innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and close engagement with industry. The motto is “Birlikte Yaratmak ve Geliştirmek” (Creating and Developing Together), reflecting a collaborative spirit. 

Campus & Environment
The campus is located in Tuzla on the outskirts of Istanbul, covering over 1.34 million m². It features large green areas, modern facilities, student housing, and a variety of recreational and cultural spaces.  One highlight is the Sabancı Performing Arts Center, which hosts concerts, cultural events, and conferences.

Academics & Research
Sabancı University is organized into three main faculties: Engineering & Natural Sciences, Arts & Social Sciences, and Management Sciences. All instruction is in English, which helps support its international orientation. The university emphasizes interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship, and close links with industry. 

Student Life & Community
Students at Sabancı benefit from a tight-knit community thanks to its relatively small size. There are over 70 student clubs, cultural organizations, and strong opportunities for involvement.  Around 58% of undergraduates receive scholarships, contributing to diversity and access. The university also has robust exchange programs (over 290 partner universities) which support a global mindset. 

Outcomes & Impact
Sabancı alumni have a high employability rate: around 91% are employed within a year of graduation. The university is also active in research and innovation, with significant publications and patents.  Its graduates are increasingly pursuing advanced degrees or careers abroad.
