Founding & Philosophy
Sabancı University was founded in 1994 by the Sabancı Foundation and welcomed its first students in 1999. From its inception, the university was built with a vision of innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and close engagement with industry. The motto is “Birlikte Yaratmak ve Geliştirmek” (Creating and Developing Together), reflecting a collaborative spirit.
Campus & Environment
The campus is located in Tuzla on the outskirts of Istanbul, covering over 1.34 million m². It features large green areas, modern facilities, student housing, and a variety of recreational and cultural spaces. One highlight is the Sabancı Performing Arts Center, which hosts concerts, cultural events, and conferences.
Academics & Research
Sabancı University is organized into three main faculties: Engineering & Natural Sciences, Arts & Social Sciences, and Management Sciences. All instruction is in English, which helps support its international orientation. The university emphasizes interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship, and close links with industry.
