Kyung Hee University (KHU)
- History & MissionKyung Hee University was officially established in 1949, but its educational lineage dates back further. The university was built around the ideals of “Scholarship and Peace,” striving to foster a “civilized world” through the cultivation of global citizens. Over the decades, it has grown into a major research university with a strong emphasis on both academic excellence and social responsibility.
Academic Culture & Research
KHU offers a broad range of academic programs: on its campuses, there are more than 20 colleges / departments for undergraduates and a variety of graduate schools. Its research is closely tied to its founding philosophy: not only producing scholarly work, but also contributing to cultural and societal impact. The university also runs its own Peace Studies institute and encourages interdisciplinary work.
Internationalization & Student Experience
Kyung Hee is notably international: according to its own materials, it has over 4,900 full-time international students, and runs many programs in English as well as Korean. It has more than 500 partner universities across dozens of countries, facilitating exchange programs, short-term study, and global collaboration. For student life, the university supports various international student services such as buddy programs, cultural activities, and academic exchanges.
Campus & Facilities
Kyung Hee University has three main campuses:
