Çankaya University (Çankaya Üniversitesi)

History & Identity

Çankaya University was established in 1997 by the Sıtkı Alp Education Foundation, transforming from a secondary school (Arı Koleji) to a higher education institution. The university strongly emphasizes English-medium education: many programs are taught in English, aligning with its vision of preparing globally competent graduates. In 2011, its modern “Turkuaz” (New) Campus was inaugurated, covering about 440,000 m², and has since been recognized for its architectural quality.

Academic Culture & Research
Çankaya University houses 5 faculties — including Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Architecture, Law, and Economics & Administrative Sciences — plus vocational schools, and graduate institutes. Its academic programs emphasize both technical competence and social awareness. The university supports a research-friendly environment with a variety of master’s and PhD programs.

Internationalization & Student Life
While relatively small in terms of international student population, the university maintains active international student recruitment and support via its Registrar’s Office. Students also benefit from a strong English-language environment and a range of student clubs. On its student life front: Çankaya supports 75+ student clubs (cultural, scientific, arts, sports) run under its Social and Cultural Affairs Directorate.

Campus & Facilities
The Turkuaz campus is modern, well-equipped, and awarded for its architecture. There is a student dorm (capacity ~168) on the Central Campus, with separate male and female sections. For student engagement, there are many clubs: from computer engineering, blockchain, to dance, visual arts, and more.
